Merry Christmas
Unlike in Russia where the main and the most cheerful holiday is New Year , in Europe Christmas was and still is the most important of all the winter events . Catholics celebrate this holiday according to the Gregorian calendar on the night from 24th to 25th of December . But the magic is felt not only at the Christmas Day but also a few days before . People feel happy choosing gifts for their beloved , decorating Christmas trees and shopping at the Christmas markets . They go skating wearing knit sweaters with ridiculous prints until their noses turn red , but they laugh because they don ’ t care if they freeze to death . The streets are filled with lights , cafes are decorated with garlands , there are Starbucks Christmas cups everywhere and plenty of beautiful photos on Instagram . During this time life becomes a fairytale smelling of citrus , cinnamon , ginger and nutmeg . Each country has its own Christmas traditions , but one thing remains the same - this holiday brings magical atmosphere and hopes for the best to every family . It teaches us to be grateful and good to others , to enjoy our time with family and friends and remember : Christmas comes only once a year .
