Barrie:
Personality is important
A soul
A heart
Someone else’s smile
To think about all day
I like a new guitar every year
Can’t beat that feeling
When I write something I think
Is good
That usually happens in 5 minutes
And that moment might happen once
A year
Playing the barrowlands ballroom in Glasgow
was quite a thing to me
I don’t know your attitude towards pop music, but
it’s said that for many years some Scandinavian
authors have been producing it like in factory.
And singers who write their own songs are hardly
allowed to do it. What do you think about this
situation, may machines replace people in music
production one day??
Barrie:
Pop music was good in the 70’s
Some pop in the 80’s
Pop in the 90’s even
Maybe even the early part of the millennium
Nowadays it’s all the same
The form is the same
And I notice that each day
The future seems bleak to me
Because I fear with technology
Advancing every minute
And all these short cuts to thinking
That it creates is leaving no room
For people’s imaginations to grow

Мне нравится покупать каждый год новую гитару,
Не могу пересилить это.
Когда я пишу что-то, что кажется хорошим,
Это обычно случается за 5 минут.
И такой момент может произойти один раз
В год.

Меня вполне устраивала.
Я не знаю твое отношение к поп-музыке, но
говорят, что в течение многих лет несколько скандинавских авторов производят ее как
обычный продукт на фабрике. А певцам, которые пишут свои собственные песни, с трудом
позволяют это делать…. Что ты думаешь о таком положении дел, могут ли машины однажды заменить людей в производстве музыки?
Барри:
Поп-музыка была хороша в 70х.
Какая-то – в 80х.
Даже в 90х было нечто достойное.
Может быть, и в раннем миллениуме.
Сейчас вся она одинакова –
одинакова форма.
И я заметил, что каждый день
Будущее кажется мне унылым,
Потому что я боюсь технологий,
Совершенствующихся каждую минуту.
