Gate valves for harsh conditions
Right: The Krebs Technequip knife gate slurry valve was designed for harsh
slurries in the mineral processing industry.
The Krebs Technequip TGW series of wafer-style knife gate slurry
valves were designed specifically for the harsh and abrasive slurries
encountered in the mineral processing and power industries,
dealing with minerals ranging from cement, sand, and gravel to
coal, phosphate, ash, and alumina.
Designed as a space-saving option for heavy-duty applications,
the replaceable elastomer sleeves offer a reliable sealing solution
using the latest technology. The valve’s operation is based on its full
port design, which allows the gate to be fully isolated by the sleeves
from the process in the open position.
As the gate closes, it pushes between the two sleeves, discharging
a small amount of material out of the bottom of the valve. This
prevents material build-up in the seat area, ensuring full gate
closure, as well as preventing damage to the gate. When the gate
is in the open or closed position, there is a 100% bidirectional
bubble-tight seal and zero downstream leakage.
To ensure long life, all valves are supplied with dust boots, or
‘bellows’, as a standard feature, to protect valve stems and actuators.
Hardware such as nuts, bolts, and washers are specially zinc-plated
to protect against corrosion. Each component is also individually
epoxy-painted before assembly.
Chinese OEM visits South Africa
Chinese company the Dadi Engineering
Development Group (DDEDG) visited
Aury Africa recently. Dadi is the parent
company of Aury Africa. According to Aury,
DDEDG vice-president Xiaoming Yuan,
who paid a visit to South Africa a year ago,
reiterates that it is DDEDG’s intention to
have Aury Africa achieve the same level of
success as sister companies Aury Tianjin
in China and Aury Australia, which have
become leaders in their respective markets.
“We hold the minerals-processing
industry in Africa in high regard, as it
forms an integral part of our group’s global
expansion strategy,” says Yuan. “Key to this
strategy is Aury Africa introducing the
latest technology to the mining industry
on the continent, such as intelligent dry-
sorting systems and smart plants, in order
to improve operational efficiency and
environmental awareness,” says Yuan.
