Mental health issues Let’s talk about... loneliness It’s easy to feel lonely if you don’t see or talk to anyone often. But loneliness is far more complicated than that, particularly if you’re living with mental health problems. Being alone isn’t the same as being lonely. Many of us are quite comfortable with a bit of solitude, and there’s nothing wrong with that. But for some of us, the feeling of loneliness is unavoidable, even when we’re surrounded by people who care. It’s a sense of isolation – the feeling that no one can empathise with, or truly understand, what we’re going through. 10 Mind Magazine And while loneliness isn’t a mental health problem in itself, the two are strongly linked. If you experience mental health problems, you’re more likely to feel isolated and lonely. And feeling lonely can have a negative impact on your mental health.
