MMA Earns Two Member-Driven Awards
MMA continues to impress the
association world for its work on your
behalf as it celebrated the highest honor
in two categories at the 16th annual
Michigan Society of Association
Executives (MSAE) Diamond Awards
last month. With four awards overall
across four nominations, MMA was
among the evening’s top recipients.
“These Awards recognize the hard
work MMA does each day to provide
members with high-level advocacy,
professional development and strategic
networking,” says Chuck Hadden,
MMA president & CEO. “I want to
thank our great team in Lansing and
the involvement of our members —
manufacturers of all sizes from
across Michigan.”
Innovative Collaboration
The 2017 MFG Forum was a hit with members and with the judges.
The partnered event took home a 2017 MSAE Diamond Award for the
Meetings & Expositions category along with MMA’s PRIME partnership
which received a Diamond Award for Innovative Collaboration.
“
MMA’s partnership with the
SME Education Foundation was
recognized for bringing PRIME®, an
employer-driven, customizable talent
solution, to local Michigan communities.
The program has already created a
long-term partnership between MMA
member Shape Corp. and the Grand
Haven Area Public Schools. Conversations
continue to develop in regions throughout
the state to bring skilled trades training
which addresses the needs of employers.
“Talent remains a critical issue for
manufacturers and the PRIME program
offers the customizable, local solutions
they’ve been looking for,” said Mike
Johnston, MMA vice president of
government affairs. “MMA is thankful
to the MSAE for recognizing the
unique possibilities we’ve created
through the partnership with the SME
Education Foundation. They are the
translators — they communicate
between the business community and
educators so we can deliver actual talent
solutions to Michigan.”

Meetings & Expositions
Providing members with strategies,
best practices and networking opportunities
is a critical piece of every MMA event
and the 2017 MFG Forum continued
that trend with a focus on the importance
of cyber security within a 21st century
industry. Through a partnership with
the National Center for Manufacturing
Sciences (NCMS), MMA brought in
the FBI, the U.S. Department of
Homeland Security, General Motors,
Microsoft and other cybersecurity
experts to shine a spotlight on an issue
responsible for more than $400 billion
in annual lost intellectual property.
“Everything surrounding an MMA
event is based on member input —
topics, speakers, locations, types of
networking, how we offer sponsorship
— so to receive a Diamond Award
means we are successful in listening to
what manufacturers want and then
providing it to them,” says Sarah Martin,
MMA event coordinator. “It also shows
we are moving in the right direction. As
a result of the incredible feedback from
attendees, we’ve committed to partner
again with NCMS at the 2018 MFG
Forum to provide manufacturers with
more solutions to new emerging issues.”
Planning is underway for the 2018
MFG Forum. Contact MMA’s Sarah

In addition to the two Diamond
Awards, MMA also was recognized for:
• Membership Development
– Gold Award
• Website (mimfg.org)

MMA continues to strive the
meet and exceed the expectations of
members and the annual Diamond
Award recognition tells us we’re doing
something right.
