Members Make an Impact
Join a Policy Committee to Drive MMA’s Agenda
MMA Industry and Associate members are
encouraged to serve on MMA Policy Committees
to help develop MMA’s public policy positions.
Government Affairs Committee
Provides opportunities for input into policy direction
for MMA on every major issue impacting Michigan
manufacturers. Helps develop MMA’s Legislative
& Regulatory Agenda. Also provides opportunities
to interact with state government officials. Meets
on an as-needed basis.
Tax Policy Committee
Helps determine tax policy priorities and provides
opportunities for input into tax policy development
for the Legislature and the Executive Branch.
Meets every other month.
Employment & Workforce
Policy Committee
Focuses on issues related to workers’ and unemployment
compensation, MIOSHA standards and regulation,
manufacturing talent and workforce development
initiatives. Meets on an as-needed basis.
Health Care Policy Committee
Serves as a forum to discuss and provide direction
to the MMA Government Affairs team on issues
which impact employers’ health care costs. Meets
on an as-needed basis.
Energy Policy Committee
Serves as a forum for exchanging information on
energy utilization and potential industry strategies
to ensure an adequate supply of reliable power at
economically competitive rates. Meets on an
as-needed basis.
Lawyers Committee (fees may apply)
The MMA Lawyers Committee is made up of the
in-house counsel of MMA member companies. These
attorneys meet to decide MMA’s involvement in
amicus curiae activities on behalf of the Association
members. Meets every other month.
MMA President & CEO Chuck Hadden leads a
meeting of the Food Manufacturing Committee.
Air Policy Committee
Actively monitors and participates in the development
of legislative and regulatory air quality policy. Serves
as a forum for members to share ideas and thoughts on
air related issues. Forms ad hoc sub-groups as needed
to address specific issues as they arise. Meets monthly.
Environmental Policy Committee
Addresses non-air related environmental issues
of concern to manufacturers. Members actively
monitor water, solid waste, remediation and other
environmental regulations and participate in the
development of legislative and regulatory policy.
Meets monthly.
Mining & Natural Resource
Industries Policy Committee
Addresses the unique challenges faced by the members
of the mining and mineral industries, providing a
forum to discuss and provide direction to the MMA
Government Affairs team. Meets every other month.
Food Manufacturers Committee
Provides a much-needed voice to one of Michigan’s
fastest-growing but most-underrepresented industry
sectors. Connects industry leaders to discuss common
challenges with opportunity to participate in a new
Food Safety subcommittee. Meets quarterly.
