Manufacturing ’ s Plan for Michigan

The 2017-2018 MMA Legislative & Regulatory Agenda

January 2017 MiMfg Magazine 5
Thanks to strong support of MMA ’ s advocacy efforts , we have reinvigorated Michigan ’ s economic environment through sensible , pro-manufacturing policies .
Our state is leading the nation in manufacturing job growth , with 167,000 new manufacturing jobs created since the recession . With more than $ 1 billion in annual , MMA-driven savings , Michigan is once again an attractive location for manufacturers to expand their business . This is clear evidence that a pro-manufacturing agenda helps more than just manufacturers — it has a positive impact on the entire Michigan economy .
MMA is manufacturing-focused and member-driven and our Legislative & Regulatory Agenda is crafted by members who believe a more competitive manufacturing industry is possible . This Agenda will be made available to the Snyder Administration , the office of every State Senator and Representative , every state agency and every point along Michigan ’ s policymaking process . Decision-makers will be informed from day one as to the needs of Michigan ’ s largest sector of the economy .

MMA ’ s dedicated member companies employ more than 600,000 men and women statewide . They are the backbone of every community and lead to the development of better schools , better hospitals and more police , fire and ambulance services . Wherever manufacturing exists , other businesses always pop up . Michigan manufacturers have a strong voice and , during the 2017-2018 Legislative Session , that voice will be loud and it will be heard .

MMA will continue our efforts to work with the Governor and Legislature to accelerate Michigan ’ s manufacturing-based recovery and increase the competitiveness of every employer . Manufacturing is in Michigan ’ s DNA and the rest of the world will be watching what we do to propel it forward . 6
