Haworth Honored for Zero-Waste-to- Landfill Operations
Sixty-three year MMA member Haworth was awarded the West Michigan Circular Economy Leadership Award for its sustainability strategy focused on the circular economy , an economic system aimed at eliminating waste and the continual use of resources . The company ’ s global manufacturing operations have been zero waste to landfill since 2012 .
The West Michigan Circular Economy Leadership Award is presented by the West Michigan Sustainable Business Forum for successful efforts to promote waste diversion and the development of a circular economy in West Michigan through excellence of internal programs and practices or promotion of diversion within its clients or community .
“ Sustainability is part of our core ,” said Dominic Daunter , Haworth ’ s global design innovation and sustainability director .
As part of its sustainability strategy , the Holland-based office furniture manufacturer developed a new process to encourage circular design in its product development this year and had a breakthrough in its efforts to compost key waste materials from laminate surfaces .

Amigo Mobility Releases New Motorized Carts with Big Impact But Small Footprint
Bridgeport-based Amigo Mobility announced the launch of their newest product , the Dex HD , in their newest product line of motorized material handling carts . This mid-sized tow tractor combines strength and durability with a compact design . Engineered to fit through narrow spaces and give maximum visibility for safety , Dex HD has a total capacity of 3,000 lbs with a footprint of just 55 x 25 in . With the universal hitch , material handling customers will have the ability to move a variety of items .
“ We ’ ve taken our knowledge and innovation and developed this new line to help people be more efficient during their job and safely move products and materials throughout their facilities ,” said Jennifer Thieme Kehres , Director of Business Development at Amigo Mobility . “ Our newest product is really a game changer with its total capacity , we ’ re excited to see the impact it ’ ll bring to our customers .”
