This month he is in Las Vegas to compete in the 888poker sponsored World Series of Poker at the Rio Hotel and Casino - where he has already got off to a flying start.

He has cashed five times in the series of events which attracts the best players from around the world.

But the result that has meant the most to him so far was winning a coveted WSOP bracelet along with the $498,682 prize money when he took first place in the $3,000 six-handed tournament on June 2. It was a superb performance which saw him take the title against a field of 959 players.

He told me: "So far this summer I feel on top of the world after my win. I'm so happy to finally close out a WSOP event for the bracelet. I think my own confidence in my game is showing as a result with me going deep in such a high percentage of the tournaments that I'm entering."

Next up is the $10,000 Main Event in which last year's winner, Qui Nguyen, won more than $8million after having taken home just $9,000 in his poker career.

Chris, the only British Ambassador for 888poker, explained: "I have played the World Series of Poker Main Event 11 times but never won it.

He said: "The first time I went I'd won my seat online. It's the dream of every poker player to take part.

"Even though I play tournaments every day of my life, WSOP is unique.

'It should attract more than 6,000 players, from the best in the world to those who enjoy a home game with their friends on a Saturday night.

The 888poker sponsored Main Event kicks off on July 8 and plays out until the winner is crowned on July 22.

Chris added: "It's quite gruelling. You can play over seven or eight days for 13 or 14 hours at a stretch but the time goes so fast because you're having so much fun.

"Anybody can sit down and technically win by what we call running well - they get good cards and they play them well at that time."
