Seasonal greens and a dose of creativity turn the
Pomerantz’s Short Hills Colonial into a winter wonderland

P
amela and Glenn Pomerantz moved to
Short Hills from Hartford seven years ago
when Glenn was offered a position with a
local medical insurance company. Since
then, their children, Rebecca, 20, and Ben,
21, have left for college and Pamela has
become active in the Short Hills Home Garden Club,
where she is now president. Last year, the Pomerantz
home was featured as part of the Short Hills Home
Garden Club tour, which raised money for Greenwood
Gardens, The Cora Hartshorn Arboretum and the
town beautification league, among others.

A GLOWING WELCOME
Pamela grew up in Emsworth, Hampshire, on the south coast of
England. Her family did not use holiday lights to decorate the outside
of their home there, but Pamela has happily adopted the American
custom. “It’s quite lovely on a bleak winter’s day,” she says. The
Pomerantz family usually travels to England over the winter holidays
to celebrate with Pamela’s family, but their home in Short Hills is still
decked out with lovely arrangements inside and out. Pamela uses a
combination of handmade and store-bought items, which she
customizes with personalized touches.
