LOOKING BACK
Town Jewels
1957
In this 1957 photo, S. Marsh & Sons, a Newark jewelry firm founded in 1906, celebrates
the opening of its store on Millburn Avenue with a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Samuel Marsh, a Millburn resident, started the business “solely as jewelers and silversmiths.”
The store sold its jewelry in beautiful green velvet boxes, which were lined with cream satin and
green velvet, and closed with brass hinges. The S. Marsh & Sons location is now a PNC Bank.
