If you haven’t already done so, activate and claim your business listings. This includes Google My Business, Zillow, Facebook, Yelp, and any other directory that can be found by online users. Think of this as an extension of your LinkedIn profile.

Level 1: Start Local

Like the printer at your office, haunted homes tend to smell fear. It’s best to leave the worries and apprehension at the door, or at least, keep them in check. Embrace the predicament you’ve found yourself in and remember that you’re the best real estate agent to tackle this.

Step 1: Embrace it with open arms.

And by explore, we mean you should probably find out for yourself just what your future clients are dealing with. Is it haunted by friendly Casper-like ghosts or more like the Sanderson sisters? Or are the spirits in there looking for revenge with a side of tormenting?

While a select few prospects might be into the latter (the kind of people that think the movie “It 2” was a comedy), everyone else will likely feel better if you either find no spirits after your search, or at the minimum, a friendly ghost dog named Zero.

Step 2: Explore a little.

Do you fall into one of the categories below?

a. You just found out that the home you’re listing was built on an ancient burial ground.

b. You just found a newspaper clipping from 1912 with the headline, “Haunted mansion, those who enter never leave alive.” That mansion happens to be your listing.

c. You literally just shook a ghost’s hand inside your listing.

d. You want to be prepared if you are ever in any of the scenarios above.

Whether you fall into one of the categories or all of them (eek!), we have some suggestions for how best to proceed.
