3. Reminder: relationships are everything

While the sessions and learning labs are extremely valuable, there is nothing that beats networking at these events. It was a good reminder that you should always be networking. Networking with other real estate agents, with clients, people in your neighborhood, your gym, your children’s school, etc. Don’t lose sight of the heart of your business!

4. Consumer experience is key

One theme we heard time and time again was to make things as easy as possible for consumers, and that, of course, includes your clients. Any time you can spoon-feed them helpful information, such as monthly touchpoints with their neighborhood market trends, an easily-made CMA presentation about where their home stands compared to their neighbors’, or blogs about what’s happening this month event-wise, are great ways to give your client the info they need, whether they know they need it or not. They’ll be grateful that you’re giving them helpful information before they have to ask for it.

Molly Bloom, a world-class skier turned underground poker queen, spoke at the event. Her story is pretty famous but for those of you who haven’t seen the movie about her, “Molly’s Game,” you most definitely should. It’s debatable whether she’s someone to take advice from (especially since she’s been arrested by the FBI and hunted by the Mafia, more on that in the movie), but I do think some of her message really resonated.

Our main takeaway: We all could use a reminder that confidence is everything; betting on yourself is the most powerful thing you can do. If you don’t believe in yourself and your own mission, who will?

Hopefully, these Inman Connect nuggets will help you out a bit. We’ll leave you with one final piece of advice that I learned on this trip: do not order tomato juice on your flight there. You will spill it everywhere and you will regret it.

5. Fake it ’til you make it
