MARIA GIULIA, Winemaker, Tenuta Il Corno RICh hERITAGE, Director of Sales and Marketing, heritage Vineyards She produces wines such as Chianti DOCG and Colorino IGT, as well as fine olive oil, a family business since World War II. Its grape varieties include Malvasia di Santa Lucia used for Vin Santo (Tuscan dessert wine), and several clones of original Tuscan Sangiovese grapes. Richard has taken on the role of Director of Sales and Marketing after graduating from Rutgers University with a degree in business and economics. Richard also worked for Hanna Winery in Sonoma Valley, California, where he gained hands-on experience in wine-marketing and hospitality. TASTInG nOTES Tenuta Il Corno, Tuscany, Italy | tenutailcorno.com/en 2014 Tenuta Il Corno Albios Vino bianco is a pale straw yellow with greenish hues and a fresh and persistent bouquet, with notes of fresh fruit, pineapple, apple and yellow flowers. Smooth, delightful, fresh, balanced and vibrant. An excellent match for aperitifs but also fish and white meat. 2012 Tenuta Il Corno Chianti Fossa Spina is a deep ruby red, with violet hues. Fresh, winy, spicy, intense and persistent bouquet, slightly fruity, dry. Smooth and dry, slightly tannic, balanced and elegant. Works well with meat sauces, red meat and medium mature cheese. 2007 Tenuta Il Corno Comorosso IGT is deep ruby red, with violet hues. Very intense perception of red berries matched with spicy notes that remind of prunes and boxwood, and light notes of lignin, cocoa and vanilla. A corpulent wine, with a close structure of smooth tannins. Remarkably full-bodied. An excellent match for game sauces, roast and braised meat and the traditional Tuscan cuisine. TASTInG nOTE heritage Vineyards, Mullica hill, nJ | heritagewinenj.com 2012 heritage Signature bDX recalls black cherry, mulled currants and maritime minerals. Robust finish with concentrated dark fruit and finely structured tannins. 2013 heritage Vineyards Chenin blanc’s light straw color offers a mouthwatering mix of bright green apple and tropical fruit aromas, followed by bold flavors of melon and tropical fruit salad with citrusy twist of lime. Tingly acidity keeps the wine lively and tasty as it reaches a crescendo on the finish. 2012 heritage Vineyards Cabernet Franc is a fruit-forward, medium bodied, wine with garnet red robe. The wine offers aromas and flavors of red raspberries, red currants, red cherries, brown sugar, allspice, toasted brioche and hints of fragrant green herbs. The finish is velvety and elegant with ripe and supple tannins. 2011 Tenuta Il Corno San Camillo Chianti DOCG Reserve is deep purple red with light garnet hues. Spicy, with iris and pepper notes. Elegantly structured, with a fine balance of tannins, acidity and minerals. Smooth and intense. Pairs well with tasty sauces and red meat. 2012 heritage Vineyards Estate Syrah is dense with purplish highlights and dark burgundy color. The wine shows vibrant aromas and flavors of purple plums and blackberry cola followed by hints of roasted pecans and mocha chocolate. The richly textured finish offers firm ripe tannins, notes of grill smoke and roasted Anaheim pepper with overall graceful balance. 1997 Tenuta Il Corno Vin Santo Del Chianti DOC is amber-colored with golden hues. Apple, dried fruit, honey and nuts. Sweet, full-flavored, complex, exceptionally smooth and persistent. Generally matched with desserts, pastries or biscuits like the Italian “cantucci” but also with mature cheese. 2013 heritage Vineyards Signature Chardonnay has a marvelous toasty nose filled with aromas of baked pear bread pudding, caramel and toasted hazelnuts. The wine is bold, complex and rich on the palate.
