STAFF SPOTLIGHT Diane Beckrich Alex Klaustermeier Before joining Mid-County as an administrative assistant Aug. 31, Diane Beckrich and her husband Jerry had operated a dairy farm in Cologne. They recently sold their herd, but still keep busy raising beef cattle, steers, and sheep, and growing corn, silage, beans, and hay. Diane is originally from Shakopee, and her fi rst husband raised beef cattle and hogs before he passed away from cancer. At Mid-County, Diane works with LP and bulk fuel tickets, enters data for the Holiday Station Store, and takes fuel orders over the phone, among other duties. When she’s not at work, Diane loves gardening, sewing, and spending time with family, including her three sons. The oldest son owns beef cattle, the second works as a mechanic in Shakopee, and the youngest is studying mechanical engineering at the University of St. Thomas. Although this is Alex Klaustermeier’s fi rst year as a full-time custom applicator, he had been an intern for Mid-County two summers prior. He focused on crop scouting for his fi rst internship, and divided his time as a crop scout and custom applicator for the second. Alex, the son of Mark and Nissa Klaustermeier, grew up on a dairy farm in Cologne, and graduated from Mayer Lutheran High School in 2011. He has a degree in farm operations/ management from Ridgewater College in Willmar. His favorite part of being a custom applicator is getting to work with complex machinery.
