Lynn Zellman retiring in April Lynn Zellman, Auto Technician, will be retiring this spring af- ter 43 years at Mid-County Coop. Zellman has enjoyed working in the auto mechanic industry and with the people at Mid-County Coop. While he has seen many co-workers come and go, he has worked with others for a long time. He explained, “It gets to be almost like a family after a while.” Zellman has enjoyed the variety of work at Mid-County; he performed auto, truck, and agricultural equipment repair, and fixed everything from small engines to big floater applicators. “There is always something different to work on from day to day,” he said appreciatively. Over the past four decades, Zellman has seen Mid- County grow and expand while witnessing a massive change in the auto mechanic industry. “When I first started, electronic ignition was new on the market. Now vehicles are equipped with full computers.” During Zellman’s time at Mid-County Coop, the com- pany has grown considerably. He remembers when the entire company was located in downtown Cologne. The shop eventually became too small to handle the demand, and Zellman remembers working outside some days. Page 6 Auto, Truck, & Tire manager, Brent Geyen, appreciates Zellman’s focused attention to detail on the job and wishes him all the best on his next adventures. Geyen and the Mid-County staff will miss Zellman’s solid, reliable work ethic and years of experience in the mechanic industry. When Zellman retires, he plans to travel with his wife, Patty. One of the first trips they are considering is to Pasadena, Califor- nia with the Petal Pushers of Lutheran Hour Ministries. Along with 5,000 other volunteers, Zellman and his wife would like to help decorate the floats for the Rose Bowl. Volunteers decorate The Lutheran Hour Ministries float and other floats to raise enough money to pay for float entry fees and supplies. Zellman also dreams of seeing more of the Unit- ed States. He looks forward to a trip to Washington D.C. and the surrounding east coast to learn more about United States history. More time for fishing, bik- ing, and spending time with his grandkids are also priori- ties. Zellman declared, “I am just going to enjoy life.” www.midcountycoop.com
