Farming is a balancing act between production, economics, and conservation. At Mid-County, we strive to deliver new tech- nology that helps our farmers with win-win solutions in these ar- eas. While the product specifications report excellent results, we want to see how this new product performs locally in the field before we recommend it on a large scale to our customers. Mid-County Coop research trials includes four fields covering about 300 acres of various soil types and topography. The fields treated with NUE-Charge® Urea in the fall of 2018 will be planted without a spring nitrogen treatment. Throughout the growing season, plant health, viability, and total yields will be monitored and recorded. If the results of the trial are favorable, NUE-Charge® G treated nitrogen applied in the fall could greatly reduce the need for spring Urea application. Alleviating the high demand for spring treatment helps Mid-County applicators and farmers stay on a tight planting schedule. Managing white mold You’ve probably seen it – the dreaded patches of wilting plants just after the soybeans set flowers. Once you’ve seen it, you’ve got it...white mold. And the next soybean rotation, you can be pretty sure it will be back. At Mid-County Coop, we continue searching for the most effective products to help reduce or even eliminate the dev- astating effects of white mold, also known as Sclerotinia stem rot. Miravis® Neo Fungicide is a pre-market product that Mid- County Coop will be testing this growing season. Syngenta, the manufacturer of Miravis® Neo, has selected farm trial lo- cations throughout Minnesota to test the efficacy of the new product. Due to the long residual effect of Miravis® Neo, one post-emergent application is all that is needed to protect crops from white mold and other fungal diseases, such as: Currently there is only a very small amount of Miravis® Neo available to the general public. Syngenta believes this new product to be the best fungicide on the market to help reduce or eliminate white mold. Mid-County Coop Agronomy will keep you up to date on the results of field trials and market availability. • Anthracnose • Frogeye leaf spot • Powdery mildew • Pod and stem blight Page 4 www.midcountycoop.com
