• Wheel alignment – Does your vehicle maintain a straight path , or does it pull toward the right or left ? Are the tires wearing evenly ? TIME TO SCHEDULE A DOT INSPECTION
By law , many commercial motor vehicles , including farm trucks need to be examined annually by a certified inspector .
If it ’ s been awhile since your vehicle has had a Department of Transportation ( DOT ) inspection , give Mid-County Auto Truck & Tire Center a call at ( 952 ) 466-3710 to schedule an appointment .
Typically , we can perform the one-hour inspection the same day . We have three certified DOT inspectors who perform 200 to 300 of these safety inspections every year .
During the check-up , we ’ ll examine your vehicle inside and out , ensuring that all equipment is safe for you and others on the road .
If you ’ re not sure if your vehicle requires an inspection , feel free to ask us . The laws became more stringent in 2012 , requiring additional commercial motor vehicles to obtain these inspections . Combined vehicle and trailer weight , the type of material being transported , the number of passengers the vehicle is designed to carry , and interstate vs . intrastate are a few of the many factors taken into account . A few examples of vehicles that typically need to participate include heavy-duty tow trucks , buses , semis , and tractor trailers .
Once your vehicle passes inspection , you ’ ll be given a decal with a DOT number to display as you ’ re driving . Since law enforcement has the authority to conduct random roadside checks , having this number up-to-date can save you from a ticket or vehicle lockdown .
