Agronomy www.midcountycoop.com Page 5 STAYING AHEAD OF THE GAME If we used all the products that are advertised in the market Scott Nelson place, each of our Agronomy Manager growers would (952) 466-3733 be growing 600 [email protected] bushel corn! One way Mid-County continues to stay ahead of the game and help reach maximum yield goals is by continually researching new products. We evaluate crop protec- tion, plant nutrition and rescue treatments so we can offer our customers the best available solution that makes agronomic sense for their operation, whether it be big or small. We gather this information from many different sources such as strip testing, plot trials and independent research. Speaking of staying ahead of the game, right now is the perfect time to get your liquid starter tanks ready and have us get your product into your tanks. First, make sure all sediment and residue is thoroughly washed out with water, saving you the time of a plugged up planter. If you don’t have a strainer on your tank, now is the time to install one. Check all tank fittings, hoses and valves. All of this can save a costly spill and also save you from a visit from the De- partment of Agriculture. The state requires anyone who spills fertilizer in the amount greater than what is used on one acre to report it. It goes without saying, this is an exercise everyone wants to avoid. Moving your seed from our warehouse to your farm is another way to stay ahead of the game. Make sure you have everything you need when the planter starts rolling to reduce any possibility of downtime. We are always looking ahead to the future. A couple projects we have been working on are a bulk seed facility and ex- panding our dry fertilizer storage. Current changes include another Variable Rate Fer- tilizer and Lime unit, an upgraded sprayer for the spring, and a faster liquid fertilizer loading system. Looking forward to working with you this spring! SPRING ANHYDROUS APPLICATION – BETTER THAN EVER What’s better than one John Deere 9560R tractor? Two John Deere 9560R tractors, of course. This spring, Mid-County Agronomy will have two of these 560-horsepower machines avail- able for spring anhydrous ammonia application.
