Studies in Public Services
Develop your knowledge, understanding and skills necessary for working with all sections of the community within the uniformed public services.
The College works in close collaboration with the Cheshire Police, Fire and Rescue, Ambulance Services, Royal Marines, Royal Air Force, Royal Navy and the British Army and these valuable contacts enable tutors to keep the course content up-to-date and relevant. Students can prepare for a career in one of these areas. Learning is extended successfully through visits to these kinds of organisations, as well as trips abroad.
BTEC Diploma in Sport and Public Services (Level 1)
Length of Course 1 year Course Includes * Employment skills and opportunities. * Physical fitness, team work, map reading and outdoor activities. * Numeracy, IT and literacy skill development.
BTEC Diploma in Public Services (Level 2)
Length of Course 1 year – Winsford Campus Course Includes * Public service skills, physical fitness, teamwork, map reading and navigation and employment opportunities within the uniformed services. * Team events and adventure activities. * Numeracy, IT and literacy skill development. * A residential component is also included.
BTEC Extended Diploma in Public Services (Uniformed) (Level 3)
Length of Course 2 years – Winsford Campus – equivalent to 3 GCE A Levels Course Includes * Understanding public services, Teamwork and leadership, current affairs through Government Policies, Citizenship and Diversity and Discipline. * Physical preparation for uniformed services, dealing with and planning for Major Incidents, Outdoor and Adventurous Activities, Map reading and Expedition Skills. Residential components are also included.
Entry Requirements
2 GCSEs at grade E – G or an Entry Level qualification. 4 GCSEs at grade D or above or equivalent, or a Level 1 qualification. 4 GCSEs at grade A* – C or equivalent, or a BTEC Diploma/Level 2 qualification.
