Mid Cheshire College offers students a head-start by providing the qualifications and facilities that the industry recognises and uses. You will access our excellent range of the latest state-of-the-art equipment and facilities within Media Production in the new £7.5 million Centre for Creative Arts, which includes the latest Apple iMac video editing suite with Adobe Final Cut Pro and a viewing room. As well as achieving professional freelance contracts in industry, media students have progressed on to Higher Education to study Degrees at universities with the best reputations for excellence in media, such as Manchester, Salford, Edge Hill and Falmouth. MEDIA/CREATIVE MEDIA PRODUCTION BTEC Extended Diploma in Media (Radio Production) (Level 3) Length of Course 2 years – equivalent to 3 GCE A levels Course Includes * Media industries, production methods and the audiences they relate to. * You will work in teams as well as individually and will produce a portfolio of practical work. * Specialise in areas such as scriptwriting, news, broadcasting and commercial radio. BTEC Extended Diploma in Media (Television & Film) (Level 3) Length of Course 2 years – equivalent to 3 GCE A levels Course Includes * Media industries, production methods and the audiences they relate to. * Produce a portfolio of practical work. * Television production, film, scriptwriting and editing. BTEC Extended Diploma in Games Design and Animation (Level 3) Length of Course 2 years – equivalent to 3 GCE A levels Course Includes * Dynamic software applications. * Designing and creating 3D models and environments, animating your own characters and navigating through your own interactive worlds. * Cutting edge digital illustrations, concept art and engaging graphic narratives. * Motion graphics and video effects. * Web skills developing interactive applications and online games. The games design course uses powerful Apple Mac computers with the latest design and 3D software applications. There are many opportunities to practice your skills and knowledge through ‘real life’ projects working on live briefs with genuine clients. Local organisations include, Amplify and The Joshua Tree.
