Students need to have 4 GCSEs
at grade C or above, including
Maths and English, plus a
minimum of 120 UCAS points
from any of the following
programmes:
* BTEC Extended Diploma/
Certificate/Award
* A/S – A Levels
* AVCE
Alternatively, an NVQ Level 3
or equivalent or a Pass in an
appropriate kite-marked Access
to Higher Education course.
Where possible an academic
or vocational reference will be
required to ensure suitability
for this level of programme.
Students who do not meet the
above admissions requirements
will be considered for entry
if they can demonstrate
that they have the relevant
vocational experience,
motivation and personal
qualities appropriate for
Foundation Degree level work.

This programme will be
assessed by a combination
of methods, e.g. continuous
work-based assessment,
presentations, assignments and
examinations.
Prospects
Students will have the
opportunity to apply to
progress on to the second
or final year of an Honours
Degree in a related area at
any university.
Students can apply to progress
on to the part-time ro ute
of the BA (Hons) Tourism
Business Management at
Manchester Metropolitan
University as a top-up
to Honours Degree from
this Foundation Degree.
Applications will be considered
based on performance on
Foundation Degree.
Students can also progress
into employment in the
travel and tourism industry
and pursue careers in tour
operations in both the UK
and overseas, in aviation
within airport and airline
operations or in the retail
travel or cruise industry.
TRAVEL & TOURISM MANAGEMENT
This programme is aimed at
students who are motivated to
obtain a higher level position
within the travel and tourism
industry, whether this is in sales,
marketing management, tour
operator management or customer
service. The course will cover a
variety of elements to meet the
needs of the industry including the
travel and tourism environment,
finance, cruise sector, marketing
and aviation operation.
