New & Enhanced Services O ne of the 1115 Medicaid Waiver DSRIP programs provided 30 new Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselors to help patients with mental illness deal with their co-occurring substance abuse disorder. Successful outcomes require that we treat both conditions: the more integrated the delivery, the better the outcome for the patients. MHMRA, in collaboration with The Council on Recovery (formerly known as The Council on Alcohol and Drugs Houston), successfully implemented this dual disorder treatment for approximately 1,000 adults. In addition, four new specialty teams are now devoted to working with patients who are experiencing multiple hospitalizations. Approximately 30 new case workers are now assigned to patients who previously did not have a field-based case worker. The intent of these workers is preve
