U11s Finish on Fire by Coach Darkness

The weather for the U11 Championship match between the Swick Tech Terrors and the Comfort Keeper Ravens was "really nice" as commented by Natalie "7" Picard. Both teams were almost completely at full strength for this last day of what would turn out to be some of the best hurling yet! The fast-paced movement of the sliotar would keep the sidelines watching as the ball sailed end-to-end through all the lines. The kids used every bit of their knowledge and skill from the months of intense training and practice to make this the show-stopping game a nail biter.

Brodie “Frogger” Conklyn and Aiden “Bones” Chojnacki quickly showed their skills at stealthy hand passing and Raven teamwork, and cleared it to the other end. Not to be outdone, Jack “Pickles” Hardt then scooped the ball up and returned it back again. The kids had learned that talking is key and after a one short bunch up, they settled in to call for the ball, and move it to every corner of the field. Isaiah “Pele” Latimer stealthily maneuvered in and ground hurled it back to the other side to Jacob “Happy Feet” Schmidt, who danced his way into the first goal of the game for Swick Tech.

Quarter two brought the tenacity of the Comfort Keepers, as Frogger roll-lifted the ball and soloed down half the field. But Calvin “Hobbes” McKee and Anna “Straight Shot” Wozniak were there to put up a wall of Terror defense, working to get the sliotar back out of the red zone. Suddenly, Lucas “Skywalker” Ingebrigtson, having the game of his season, did a graceful pop-up to the hand for a textbook release to drive it once again down the field. This went straight to Frogger who brought it in for the kill, and scored the goal for the Ravens to tie the game.
