MHC Dish From the Pitch 2014 Championship - Week 13 | Page 24

The MHC U7 season came to a close with hurleys swinging, sliotars speeding, and little feet pounding. For the final game, the U5 group joined in on a full match with the B field kids and while there were still some minor distractions, like an impromptu “1, 2, 3 MHC!” cheer in the middle of the game, the intermingled U5s/U7s impressed the crowd gathered at the north end of the pitch with their line to line passing and team spirit. Anthony Witt chased a ball so hard that he overran the ball and had to turn around! It’s hustle and heart that pushed this group to success all season long. The coaches are confident that this U5/U7 group will continue to grow and thrive as long as the hustle they dug deep to find continues with them into future seasons.

On the A field, Sean Gray was a scoring monster this fine day. Timid on offense at first, he soon took control of the zone, driving to the net every time teammate Christian Griffin had the ball. The two worked well together moving and talking so they could pass to the open spaces. Even though Nate Giese took a swing to the back near the end of the third quarter, he shook it off in true MHC warrior style, kept making the big plays and finished the final match of the 2014 season.

The U7s are a passionate and energetic bunch. Congratulations on an exciting season and good luck to those of you moving up to the U11s! The coaches are already looking forward to the next season. We will miss your sunshiny, smiley faces each week!
