The level of play by Nick Neuman and Rob McCommons was of special note. Both defenders were quick to the ball and showed a tenacity rarely seen in club play. For both of them personally, they displayed skills previously hidden from the rest of the MHC spectators. Each week, we have seen them snatch up sliotars and hurl them away, or in Rob’s case, towards the uprights. The deft touch in such a challenging match was truly a sight to behold.
In all, the Traveling Team certainly has the skills they will need to compete at the national level. They are riding that fine edge of finesse bordered by violence on one side and calamity on the other - and, they do it well. If they have one weak spot it is their communication. Plenty of the team speak up, but it seems that many do not listen. If they can shore up that one chink in their armor, they should return after Labor Day proudly victorious!
