MORTAL KOMBAT X REVIEW By Tom Bickmore Mortal Kombat X is the best Mortal Kombat yet. A sequel to Mortal Kombat (2011), the story picks up after the revelation that Shao Khan's invasion was all part of Shinnok’s greater plan to weaken Earthrealm and Outworld. Fan favourite characters Johnny Cage, Sonya Blade, and Raiden take centre stage initially, but not for long. Jumping forward 25 years, much of the story revolves around the descendants of these klassic kombatants. Cassie Cage, Jacqui Briggs, Kung Jin, and Takeda are sent to offer assistance in Outworld, where Kotal Kahn is attempting to deal with Mileena’s rebellion as she attempts to usurp the throne. Treaties have been forged between the realms, and they must work together to face Shinnok as he tries to take these two worlds for himself. Many fighting games only give you small snippets of cutscene at the end of an arcade ladder – though this mode is still present here – but Netherrealm Studios again provide a five hour campaign. Much like the recent Injustice: Gods Among Us, each chapter gives you one playable character and you’ll face a handful of foes in between cutscenes. While character variations ar
