MG Car Club of South Australia Motorsport Mutterings February 2019 From..Murray Stephenson Happy New Year MG motorsport fanatics. he 2019 club motorsport year will again be filled with great events and a lot of fun. I trust your cars are ready for a hard work out over the com- ing year. As usual the club championship will in- clude the SA Motorkhana Champion- ships (a series of five motorkhanas), five super sprints with one at The Bend and four multi club hillclimbs. In addition we will have the National Meeting in Queen- sland and the MG Club Challenge in Victoria. Keep watching the calendar on the web- site but following are the first events of interest. T Sunday 24 February – MSCA Picnic and Presentations The MSCA presentation picnic will be held at: Virgara Winery, Heaslip Rd, Angle Vale. The display area has plenty of shade and space for an enjoyable social event and we gather to recognize the class winners from the 2018 Super Sprint sea- son. It’s a pleasant drive in the MG to Angle Vale where we can enjoy a BYO picnic lunch (BYO food and drinks). The winery will be open and there is food available nearby, including the winery restaurant, if you wish. As usual, start set up around 11am and have our display ready for judging approx 1pm. MGCC has done well in the display competition in the past but the competition has become quite fierce in recent years. Sunday 17 March – Super Sprint Round 1 Round 1 of the MSCA Super Sprint se- ries will be run on 17 March at Mallala. Entries are submitted via the CAMS Event Entry system which is accessed through the member portal. Supp Regs will be on the MSCA website. There will be a Come and Try compo- nent to this event where super sprint novices can participate in the sprint sessions as well as receive some tuition from experienced sprinters. This is well worthwhile for those who haven’t been on the track before, including juniors aged 14 or more, to gain the experience with training and supervision. Promote this to your friends and family as partici- pants do not need to belong to a car club and do not need a CAMS licence. MGCC SA is on duty to provide flaggies for this event and we need approx six volunteers. Please let Murray know if you are available to assist. It’s a great way to see the action. M: 0419 565 970 Sunday 24 February – SA Motork- hana Championship Series Round 1 The first motorkhana of the SA Champi- onship Series will be run by the MG Car Club of SA on the skidpan at Mallala. This event is an opportunity for those going to the Nat Meet at Easter to have a practice on the Nat Meet courses. MGCC runs the first round so, in addi- tion to competitors, we will be looking for members to help with timing, mar- shalling, set up and pack up. Officials will be fed and watered on the day and it is a lot of fun. 16
