COFFEE RUN TO MOUNT LOFTY
SUMMIT ON 13 JANUARY 2019
F
irstly, I must apologise to Sue and
Bill Gilson who followed Alan and
me onto the wrong road at the first inter-
section. You would think that the person
who mapped out the route would know
where she was supposed to go – NO IS
THE SHORT ANSWER.
Back to the start. We met at The Tower
Hotel car park at Magill for a 9.30 start.
We were incredibly lucky to have the
only window of cool weather for the
week. So that might account for the high
number of members who turned out for
the run. Eleven MGA’s 4 MGB’s a TD
and a TF.
It is nice to see a cross section of cars
from the Club – as always, everyone is
welcome to all events. Steu and Elaine
Knubley (hope I got the spelling right)
were there in the recent acquisition, a
red MGB. Elaine has sent through some
photos she took on the run; thanks
Elaine.
It was a short run to the summit, slowed
in places by the large number of cyclists
celebrating the Tour Down Under. Still
we were happy to share the road with
enthusiasts of another kind.
We were joined at the Summit by Sylvia
and Graham Evans, after a short diver-
sion down the hill because he missed
the turnoff, and Caroline and Roger Boy-
lan. Roger thought we meant Mount
Lofty House so he was a little late –
“better late than never” they say. Roger
did however chat to a chap at Mt Lofty
House and when they left, the Boylens
got into their MGB and the other chap
climbed into his two door Bentley – just
a slightly different “toy”.
I have added some photos, Laurie
Foody and Arthur Ruediger working out
the technology required to pay for park-
ing, De Denny waiting for Ian to come
back with the ticket and a view of some
of the cars. Inside, the four amigos,
Dicker, Micklem, Evans and Cardnell in
the coffee queue.
