September 2018 & Shelly in the mix, travellers Chris and Heather Bennetts after their adventures down the Amazon and South America and finally , how could I miss him, well I did on the night, Artfur Rummager! Arthur’s daughter’s wedding in Sicily was a wonderful event judging by the photographs especially the little bloke in his rented penguin suit, however his trip on to Europe where he visited his mate with another ND was a bit special. Amazing that he gets to drive it and se- cretly copy the hood details for his own. Goldy brought a better looking Ronnie Jellet this time, good to see Ron looking a lot better and enjoying the fresh air under the roller door at Thanes. On the matter of Goldy’s pistons , it seems that there is a need for some “KY Jelly” lubricant to get them to fit, I cannot go further with this but it is a continuing saga that pervades every register meet- ing that he attends. Doug Clarke was a welcome visitor again, he is the custodian of his dad’s TD and I refer to our old mate Graham Clarke who is in care these days and not doing too bad according to Doug. Good to see you with us Doug. Peter & Bronwyn Micklem who will host the October meeting again this year are rather anxious that the engine rebuild on the TD will not be completed by then, however I did reassure them both that we will be there in good numbers in any case to enjoy their capable and generous hospital- ity. Inspector Ken. Pleased to see Kenny Burke, the Secretary of Regis- ters attend the meeting again this month, he is looking for members to as- sist in providing information on their cars for an update of the MGCCSA data base. Russ Garth has been doing work consolidating the Prewar & T Type reg- ister for us, it looks like that there needs to be a coming together of all the data bases in the club. Photographs. My thanks to Terry Wright for the great personality shots on the night, see them here and on the website in colour, wrinkles , warts and all. The wrap. Thanks so much for your support at the meetings, it is most reas- suring that there is great conversation and chatter on all things MG with the occasional jokes from TD McNabb, pity Mozza’s TD does not have the same waterproofing qualities that McNabb has with his. I do not have a venue for the September meeting at this stage of writing the re- port however it will be on email before- hand. Parts. On spare parts, there are a few who are looking for items on rebuilds etc, if you have any thing , or know of others who have parts lying about, please let me know so that I can pass it on. TF bits especially at the moment. See you next month all being well. Cheers, John Bray BOTR ( Boss of the Register) More photos overleaf 13
