CLUB REGISTRATION FOR HISTORIC MOTOR VEHICLES – CHANGES , MYTHS AND FACTS
hanges to our procedures : For the

C next financial year , 2019 , subscriptions for membership can still be paid late in the Jan / Feb months as per past practice . However , for years 2020 onwards , subscriptions to the Club must be paid in advance ; this applies to all members , as per the Club ’ s constitution . This is especially important for owners of historic vehicles on Club Registration as these members must remain financial members of a motor vehicle club at all times . Therefore , members will be required to pay subscriptions in advance , before the end of 2019 for the 2020 year . An invoice will be sent out in October 2019 for subscription payments in the Nov / Dec period . The Club Treasurer and Club Registration inspectors will be available to collect subs and update or replace log books as required , respectively , for each Saturday morning in November 2 , 9 , 16 , 23 and 30 , and for December 7 and 14 , 2019 .

The normal second and fourth Saturday inspection mornings will resume in January through to the end of October in the year 2020 .
Facts : If you fail to remain a financial member of a motor vehicle club , and are caught driving by the police , a fine of up to $ 750 may be charged . The same applies if you forget to fill out your log book before making a journey . However , if you have broken a law as well , you may lose your club registration , have to revert back to normal registration and pay the
28 difference over the financial year period , as well as pay a fine .
So be very careful out on the public roads , observing the road rules at all times , as one should ; but especially if you tend to be forgetful ! If a second driver drives the vehicle , another line must be signed off for the same journey . If the journey spans more than one day , a second entry is required for the second day , and so on . This includes a return to home after midnight from a party , meeting , event , etc . This constitutes a second journey and must therefore , be entered into the log book before commencement .
Myths : The ninety days of log book usage is within the Club ’ s financial year . Actually , the journeys are counted from day one of your vehicle ’ s registration to the last day for that one year period .
Although commonly thought , if you have failed to remain a financial member of a motoring club or have forgotten to fill in the details of your journey and are involved in an accident , you will not be covered by third party insurance and considered unregistered . This is a myth ; you will still be registered and insured . A big fine may be charged or worse , as per above .
Now , a reminder : Replacement of expired log books may be sooner than you think . The red inked date for log book replacement is shown on the front cover , is no longer valid . The important date from now on will be the date of expiry for the third year of club membership . The front cover date will be corrected when the log book is updated
