MGA POKER RUN
From...Nick Micklem
TO BEGIN WITH :
N
ick and Dennise’s at Houghton on
a perfect Sunny Sunday on Sept
23 rd .
We had 13 cars - As, Bs, TDs, TFs,
and a ZR – and No plastics !-
We had young people thanks Will
(really young) and Ned – Navigator win-
ner -
We had new people – So good to see
and share the fun with. Hope we see
again.
And, there was the rest of us…..always
good to see and share the fun.
We toured 5 local cemeteries around
Houghton, One Tree Hill, Kersbrook,
Cuddlee Creek and Phillip Town.
We learnt things along the way – eg the
former name of Chain of Ponds Cem-
metry .
Some of us found surprises of old
friends and final resting places.
And, some of us just surprised the lo-
cals at Sunday church services.
Whoops. !
Dead Poker hands started to look live-
lier at each stop as questions were an-
swered and new cards were collected.
To the best of
our knowledge
no
cheating
occ urred
–
hmmmm !– well no one was caught!
However, I believe there was plenty of
swapping going on whilst we put salads
together and boiled the kettle !
We had a winning hand – Congratula-
tions – no dead hand there.
And the rest of us….well ……. better
luck next time!
TO END WITH:
Thankyou to all those who supported us
in the first time event – we did have fun
setting it up and doing the trial runs
(over and over again) A big shout out to
all those who have organized observa-
tion runs, b/fast runs and the like in the
past – much appreciated – A full House
and a straight run with a flush to you all
…..
And yes
As for the meaning of life – Well – I shall
let you all work that out !
