MG Car Club of South Australia MGA MAGNETTE NEWS From...Sandra Cardnell REPORT FROM THE MGA/ MAGNETTE REGISTER MEETING ON 18 TH JANUARY 2019 AT THE HOME OF VELLI AND GARY ALGATE, CRAIGBURN FARM A New Year and a new venue: thank you to the Algates for hosting the first Register Meeting of 2018 at their new pad at Craigburn Farm. A lovely home and we stayed later than usual, could be that we were thinking of the warmish drive home after the 42 degree day. Mine host did not offer a bed for the night so we eventually went home. Beware next time Velli if we arrive with swags and pillows. Gary’s new garage is very impressive – neat and tidy, a place for everything and everything in its place. Much planning obviously went into the garage set up, including underground power to the scis- sor lift in its special recessed home. Oh – and its airconditioned too! In spite of the heat, we had four MGA’s, including the Algates, and two Mag- nettes, Anthony Pearson arrived in his ZB Magnette and Tony and Pauline Welsh drove their ZB Magnette Vari- tone. Ian and De Denny used their Mark II MGA and Arthur arrived in his MGA 1500. But the surprise of the night was the arrival of Dean Hosking in another MGA Mk II which he has recently ac- quired from Gary Hecker. Unfortunately for Gary, and a familiar story for many, the arrival of a family has curtailed his use of the car, hence the sale to a very happy Dean. That means of course that Dean now has his previous red MGA as well as the new one – can he keep two??? We are also deviating from a Thursday meeting in September. We will shift the Register Meeting to Sunday 23 Septem- ber for a lunch run to Caroline and Roger’s Bradbury property, which has quite an array of wildlife. More details later. That leaves the July meeting for a volun- teer host. Arthur Ruediger will host on 17 May and the Bazzicas will host the meeting on 15 November. We will have an Annual Lunch Run on Sunday 2 nd December 2018 David McNabb kindly took photos of the evening and I have included most of these for the website and magazine. Our previous Register Secretary from 2005, Neil Stagg, also attended. The general feedback was that our hosts enabled a very convivial meeting – thank you. Many thanks to Velli and Gary for a very successful gathering – and special thanks to Velli, a fine effort for her first supper Members who attended were Dean Hosking, Jas & Geoff Goode Arthur Ruediger Ian & De Denny Anthony Pearson Trev & Sandy Dicker Neil Stagg Tony & Pauline Welsh David McNabb .
