Register meeting 1 February 2018
The TFN /ATO special interest
meeting at Somerton Park.
count this meeting as one for Terry
Wright who suggested that we visit
the premises of Scott Appleyard at Byre
Avenue Somerton Park who was a su-
perb host and a very interesting and en-
thusiastic car accumulator of Austin
Seven’s .
Terry and Scott were colleagues at the
Australian Tax Office some years ago,
and along with Terry’s invited guests,
Warren & Darryl there was a presence
of former tax officers including MGCC
member Greg Atkins (A Type 1500) at
the meeting, free advice on matters per-
taining to the dreaded income tax was
not freely available at all, too much fun
gossiping and poking around Scott’s
collection of vehicles and substantial
racks of parts .
Apologies.
Thane Martin, Geoff McLean, Simon
Ewart, David Kemp, Bob & Shelly
Bazzica, David & Joy Pearson.
Bob Bazzica was off to see Don Offler
who has not been altogether well of late
and members wanted to be remem-
bered to him with their sincere best
wishes. It was reported that former
member John Sarre has been admitted
into full time nursing care .
Previous meetings, December 2017 &
January 2018.
We were able to dwell on those events
which proved highly successful, Decem-
ber’s trip to the Deep South, Don
Walker’s at Goolwa Beach and Mike
Greenwoods at Strathalbyn, heading
that way again by all accounts later this
year. January’s show at King Arthur’s
West Lakes was another blockbuster
event , a really great night well attended
and a good rollout of vehicles.
General Business.
This is where it gets tricky. First Uber
off the rank was Reg O”Malley with his
“show and tell” on brass bodied SU pet-
rol pumps and a small glass device that
remains a mystery to us all.
Second Uber, Russell Garth was far
more serious. Russell’s analysis of the
MG Car Club’s advice that a Non Mar-
que Register had been formed gave rise
to very serious concern from the large
