CLUB REGISTRATION NEWS From .. Geoff Goode

CLUB REGISTRATION FOR HISTORIC VEHICLES SOME CHANGES
n the new Code of Conduct for Club
Registration , the log book covers the driver ’ s journey and when the HMV Federation posed the question to the Department PTI , along the lines of : “ What if another driver takes over driving during the journey ?” The answer was the driver must sign the log book . Therefore , each driver must sign , two drivers : two lines , etc . Still only counts as one day of the ninety day allocation ( based on the annual vehicle registration dates ). Please remember , if you renew your registration during the year , you do not need to come in on an inspection day but instead , can update the details in the log book yourself . We will stamp your registration papers when you renew your subscription in January or February next year .
Regarding the date of manufacture for the vehicle being earlier than the date of first registration , the manufacture date is used to determine whether the vehicle qualifies for Historic registration . The Club ’ s inspectors will use this date on the MR334 form that enables the owner of the vehicle to apply for Club Registration . So , a vehicle manufactured any time within 1988 , is eligible even if registered in say , 1989 or later . The SA Service Centre staff will accept the inspector ’ s integrity in applying the Code of Conduct to the all important date for the thirty year rule .
As mentioned last month , from now onwards , Historic Vehicle owners have no need to present your car for reinspection or bring in a stat dec . and we ,
12 the inspectors , need to see just three things : your new membership card to show you are continuing as a financial member , your blue rego papers for us to stamp to prove you are the owner of the vehicle and finally , your log book , for updating or for cancellation and replacement . The red printed date on the front cover shows when replacement is due , still at a cost of only $ 5 . From now on , it ’ s now that simple !
Please note , the Club Rooms will be open for business for any late payers on Saturday March 3 for receiving subscription fees and updating or replacing log books from 10am to 12 noon .
WARNING : with your vehicle registered under the Club Registration scheme , you are not allowed to drive the vehicle if you have not paid your subscription to the Club to remain a financial member and have had your log book updated to show that this has occurred .
Further , by mid March , a list of names of those members who have not renewed their membership will be submitted to the DPTI , as is required by the Club under the Code of Practice .
Normal operations resume for the remainder of the year from March to November 2018 on the 2 nd and 4 th Saturdays of each month , finishing for the year on December 1 and 8 .
