President Dr Tony Bartone has stated
that there was an increasing body of
evidence regarding significant health
effects from diesel emissions, in particu-
lar fine particulate matter, saying “We
know that diesel emissions pose signifi-
cant dangers to health,” and “In particu-
lar fine particles can contribute to
asthma, as well as respiratory and circu-
latory illnesses.”
more car and SUV diesels coming on to
our roads, they currently make up
around a third of vehicle sales. We
should also be very wary of any Govern-
ment intervention with such vehicles
given that the reduction in CO 2 seems to
be driving all current political thought.
I won't go into SUV safety concerns
here.
Hence we should view with some con-
cern the current trend in Australia of
