MG Car Club of South Australia
MGA / MAGNETTE NOTES
From....Sandra Cardnell
MEETING HELD AT ARTHUR
RUEDIGER’S WEST LAKES HOME
ON MAY 19, 2016
Grille Badge on to a piece of mallee
wood for display
We had a good turnout with 27 members and six register vehicles at Arthur’s home.
There were seven
apologies – unfortunately 19th May is
Denise Micklem’s birthday, so Nick
was unable to attend. It has to be
important for him not to arrive –
Happy Birthday Denise
We also welcomed a new member,
with a Magnette. Peter Doherty has a
1958 Magnette and after sorting out
registration and transfer issues with
the transport gurus at Regency or
Lonsdale, we should see the car.
We now have hosts for the September and November meetings – Cardnells for September and thanks to
Bob and Shelley Bazzica for volunteering to have the November meeting.
Our Christmas lunch this year will revert to a lunch run and finish at a local
watering hole. Thanks to Karin and
Lindsay for the last two Christmas
Lunches – they are interstate for
Christmas this year. More later.
Geoff Goode addressed the meeting
on the changes to the categories for
the Bay to Birdwood. It will result in
some MGA’s and Magnettes in the
vintage section and those built after
Dec, 1959 will remain in the classic
section.
Thanks to Don Moyse who kindly
mounted the Club 60th Anniversary
32
Don also expressed his desire for a
50th Anniversary badge to match his
60th Anniversary MGA Grille Badge.
He has enquired at Prestige Trophies
and was told that a run of 10 could be
produced, but the cost would be $90
per badge. Is anyone else interested
at that price – please let me know.
Our President spoke about numbers
for The Kimber Run and urged members to nominate as soon as possible.
He has the 60th Anniversary wine in
stock – please support this fundraising initiative of your Club.
For those members who are interested in the footy, I am organizing a
“footy and pie” night on Friday 1st July
at the Clubrooms. The game televised will be Port Adelaide v Richmond, so if you want some company
and a pie for supper – see you there.
Hopefully we can revive some interest
in Friday nights at the Club.
