MetroVanIndependent.com August 2015 19 entertainment Swappin’ and rockin’ music flashbacks Raffy Swap-One & Friends -- an Eagles & Wings Tribute Concert By Luisa Marshall Originally from Lucena City, Raffy Ramiro with his original classic rock band Swap Six extensively toured all over Asia and became the main headliners of popular hotspots in Qingdao Shandong, China. Now based in Vancouver, one man band Raffy Ramiro not only showed his expertise in musicianship but also showcased Filipino Canadian local talents during the well-attended concert at the Columbia Theatre in New Westminster. He charmed the Columbia crowd with his talent by playing different instruments: bass guitar, guitar, drums, percussions, keyboards, saxophone, trombone and mandolin while he surprised us with a wide range of his vocal prowess. Not anyone can sing like famous Eagles front liner Don Henley, but Ramiro delivered just that with very little effort while playing an instrument. A brilliant mixture of pure popular hits originally from the Eagles & Wings being performed by local musicians Rey Del Rosario, Mayo Landicho, Goldie, Ron Militar to name a few, carefully handpicked by Ramiro. Listening to “Yellow Submarine” made me smile and I finally realized this show was going to please me to the max. I found myself singing along and good memories of the 60’s kept flashing like lightning. But for me, the highlights of the show are Ramiro’s rendition of “Hotel California” and Photos courtesy of Simply the Best TV Show Raffy Ramiro and friends on The Columbia stage. guest singer Ms. Jayne Anastacio stole the show with her soulful rendition of “Take it to the limit”. If you missed Raffy Swap-One at the Columbia, you can catch him at the R’s Bar in Surrey. Scheduled performances, picture
