Lenore’s family migrated to Vancouver,
Canada in 1975. They later moved to New
York in 1988.
Since 1960, her passion for the art has
driven her life. She juggled her teaching,
parenting, and creating artwork. With
her Filipino ingenuity, she managed
successfully to hold numerous solo art
exhibits in all four corners of the world.
By showcasing the Philippines’
cultural tradition and heritage in her art,
she represents the world-class talent
of Filipinos in the visual arts as well as
promoting international goodwill and
better understanding of the Philippines
worldwide.
Her ar tworks constitute a visual
serenade to her country.
In 2000, Lenore made history by being
the only Filipino artist to be included in the
international art exhibition titled, ‘Progress
of the World’s Women’ held at the United
Nations in New York.
She continued to hoist the banner for
Filipino artists at the Venice Open 2002
with her installation entitled, ‘Comfort
House’ as a tribute and a memorial to the
thousands of comfort women in Asia who
were subjected to unimaginable indignities
during World War II.
Lenore shares her talents and cutting
edge techniques by giving free workshops
to promising art students, particularly
in developing countries. Lenore is part
of the Filipino diaspora and that allows
her to give back to her motherland,
revitalized printmaking in the Philippines
and contributed to the global artists’
community.
Lenore has exhibited her work in solo
shows extensively in major cities in the
US and Canada. Her other solo exhibits
outside North America were in Abu Dhabi,
Amman, Jordan; Rome, Italy; Vienna,
Austria; Paris, France; Lido, Venice, and
in Manila, Quezon City, and Makati in the
Philippines.
Lenore is a recipient of numerous
grants, including the Jackson Pollock-Lee
Krasner Foundation Grant and citations
among them - the 2007 University of the
Philippines Alumni Association (UPAA),
