areas for proper voicing and instruments and after that, like I said, you better compliment or contrast or your not going to make it!
Waylon: I'll say it again, I dont want his job!
Skinny: With Church and Ferrel, I dont have to sit behind the board and do all the engineering. I can be like "Ok this mic, this compression setting, ok thats great! Ok, thats good for that vocal, ok cool!" "Im going upfront to fuck with a mask, let me know when you guys have something for me to listen to!" So its turned into that...we have done this for so long that they are like "We know what Skinny wants" "He ain't gonna like that, give it to me again!"
Waylon: And then I will get mad..but it's like the boss man sets hurdles for you, you really want someone to set the bar, and won't let you ever go underneath that bar and if you do...but you know Skinny knows how to say it to me, but I may be steaming mad, but inside I'm like "The motherfucker is right!"
Skinny: You know in the artists defense, I will sit there for a couple of hours and be really proud of it, and someone comes in and says "Hmmm, I like that, but the rest of it can fuck off!' And I am like "I spent all this time on this, why didn't you just tell me that in the beginning!" But that's not how it works. everyone needs thier day in court, and thats how you do it in Mushroomhead. There are just too many people in Mushroomhead, and honestly everyone needs their shot at it.
Waylon: If you can't take no, you can't be in MushroomHead!
Skinny: There ya go! If you dont like the word no then, yeah, you got to get out!
Waylon: Skinny will have a great idea, and then Jay and Jeff will come in, especially with the both
of the being so seasoned, and I even consider Skinny a vocalist, he knows melody, he knows lyrics, he knows time. He knows when to put the brakes on. So when you have these three guys, it sets a standard, it's kind of over-whelming.
Skinny: Yeah, the current Mushroomhead , the bar is huge! A long as I can keep it up there, we are in great shape man!
Mike: One last question, is there anything you would like to say to your fans?
Skinny: Wow...ummm THANK YOU! and thank you and thank you! All the future fans and the ones that have been here for 20 years, obviously I wouldn't be here without every one of you! When I wake up, I make music for myself, Im so blessed that other people like it! That is what put me on the map. I would make music in my bedroom no matter what, because that's what I do! But apparently people like what we do and we are very blessed because of it. Mushroomhead would not exist without the fans, neither would any band. So every band..Check yourself tomorrow morning (laughing)
