MESQUITE ’ S TOWN EAST MALL

HAS ALWAYS BEEN A CITY DESTINATION , BUT NOW IT HAS EVEN MORE TO OFFER .
On Saturday , Nov . 18 , guests enjoyed a ribbon cutting for the mall ’ s new ReadPlayTalk Children ’ s Play Area . A partnership between Mesquite ISD , the City of Mesquite and Town East Mall , the play area supports the district ’ s literacy efforts .
The play area is located on the lower level of the mall in front of Sears . It features three separate areas for reading , playing and talking for families to use .
Guests at the official unveiling quickly discovered all the exciting features installed in the play area , including a “ stadium seating area ” designed to allow guest readers to visit with children and a charging station for parents to use while their children play . Additionally , the ReadPlayTalk area offers exciting technology , like interactive screens for kids to play with and various “ factoids ” posted throughout , educating parents on the importance of reading , playing and talking every day .
along with dozens of mall patrons who stopped to enjoy the grand opening .
The event also featured storybook times with all of the special guests , and Mesquite schools radio station 88.5 FM KEOM was onsite to interview MISD School Board members , ReadPlayTalk Board members and other community members .
The $ 250,000 project was designed with mall and district officials alongside play area design company Playtime .
MISD Community Liaison Jaci Mouser said she was pleased with the final result . “ Together , we created a design that boasts an interactive theme for the whole family — read , play , talk .”
