thematic style

Something really theme-y and trendy right now is “The Great Gatsby,” with a garden party feel, with little tea sandwiches and champagne towers. You should pick a theme that suits both of you and make it fun for you and your guests. Incorporate the food into every aspect of the theme whether ethnic, cultural, color, seasons, tastes, size, etc. The food actually adds another dimension to the décor when included.

Another new trend this year is food “themes” – pick a food element that is the star of every dish. For example, have a food table featuring bacon, which is very popular right now. Serve mini BLT's, loaded mashed potato cups with bacon or bacon wrapped...well, anything! Add some sweet elements to the table as well, like candied bacon, bacon maple shortbread cookies or mini dark chocolate bacon cupcakes.

food bars

There are endless possibilities with food bars. Make food more of an experience with a chef creating an individual masterpiece for each guest while they watch and interact as each dish is prepared for them. Some example food stations: crepes or omelets, tacos, pastas with different sauces, meats, and veggies, guacamole, or hi- bachi stations. For a more comfort food style menu serve a mashed or sweet potato bar with a multitude of favorite toppings for each guest to choose.
