As someone who has dabbled in the art of Visual Merchandising, I have a gargantuan space in my heart for my fellow merchandisers. Today, I will take you on a fabulous expedition (in your mind) through the vibrant and visionary landscape of Ruby + James, a Melbourne based team that has utilised their Visual Merchandising skills to forge a radical event styling business.
Firstly, let me introduce you to the beautiful brains behind Ruby + James - Jess and Beck, who established the event styling business in September last year.
“It was an idea we discussed for about a year. We finally made the leap in September last year and haven’t looked back. From day dot, we had an instant chemistry, fuelling each other’s ideas and inspirations. With a mutual love for beautiful space, parties and celebrations, we relished in not having the creative restrictions like you do in the retail world”
Ahhh, there is nothing we love more than an electrifying creative partnership, especially one that aims to deliver a visual feast for the eye, as Jess and Beck do! Having a visual merchandising background has provided Jess and Beck with a creative perspective that approaches events with a unique and fresh eye.

One only has to look at their portfolio to see that the above is so true - our eyes have been beauty bombed! Ruby + James offer a range of services including styling for weddings, engagements, corporate functions, private parties and birthdays, and last but definitely not least, visual merchandising (be still my beating heart!). Each service offered by Ruby + James is tailored to suit the client’s needs as they recognise the importance of individuality. Ruby + James also have an ever expanding collection of props available for individual hire for the hostess who is a little more hands on.
