The Edward (Ed) Melville Patton Memorial Scholarship 
Jordan Mitchell, M.A. Sc., Queen’s University 
Jordan Mitchell is currently an M.A.Sc student at Queen’s 
University, studying Mining Engineering with a research focus 
on the design and construction of a novel UAV for 
underground stope surveying. He is passionate about 
improving mining processes through automation and 
equipment efficiency. He is currently studying abroad in 
Örebro, Sweden in collaboration with mining manufacturer 
Atlas Copco. He is a well‐rounded and hardworking student 
with a keen interest in both the technical and business aspects 
of the mining industry. Upon graduation he is determined to 
achieve the P.Eng designation as a mining engineer while 
successfully completing the CFA charter exams.
