Set sail for a proper country pub with
a passion for great food and drink
The Ship Inn West Stour is a privately-owned informal inn,
retaining country pub values and atmosphere, whilst offering
quality food, drink and accommodation. As featured in both The
Good Pub Guide and The Good Beer Guide, The Ship’s unique
ambience and stylish décor makes it the perfect place to relax away
from it all, whether you’re simply dropping in for a drink, something
to eat, or staying for business or pleasure. The main menu changes
with the seasons and is predominantly modern British, while some
dishes are inspired by Mediterranean and Asian influences.
The Menu

The versatile menu caters both for those who want a hearty
sandwich and a pint, to those who enjoy a full three-course meal
with a bottle of wine. Our dishes are a blend of the traditional and
the not-so-familiar, with daily fresh fish specials that provide
further choices. We pride ourselves on using local and seasonal
ingredients as much as possible and all dishes are freshly prepared
and cooked to order. We offer a lunch and evening menu, a two or
three course Plat du Jour menu and Sunday lunch with a choice of
three roast meats, as well as further menu choices.
The Ale
The bar stocks an extensive selection of beer, ciders and wines,
along with real ales from three local breweries and guest ales that
change weekly. Recent guest ales have included the likes of Bass,
Black Sheep, Butcombe, London Pride and Timothy Taylor
Landlord, to name but a few. Real ale is a serious part of the pub
and as such we hold an annual beer and cider festival, showcasing 12
ales and 10 traditional ciders. In addition, there’s a big barbecue and
live bands playing on a specially built stage in the garden, making
this event a real highlight - this year’s is on Saturday 22nd August.
The Wine
We offer an interesting and varied wine list of vibrant reds, delicate
whites and refreshing rosés, ranging from the well-known classic
French wines, through to the ever popular New World varieties.
The Hotel
The Ship Inn has five en-suite bedrooms ranging from small doubles
to a large family room. Our rooms are clean, comfortable and
modern in their design. They are comfortable, have good beds, big
duvets and feather pillows. All have free Wi-Fi, flat screen TVs and
coffee and tea making facilities. Breakfast is a serious part of your
stay and we are famous for our hearty breakfasts. From a good old
traditional Full English or a vegetarian option, to waffles and maple
sauce or eggs Benedict to smoked salmon and scrambled eggs –
there’s something for everyone…
