• 5-Alpha-reductase inhibitors ( 5-ARIs ) that include finaste-ride and dutasteride .
Note : Alpha-blockers and 5-ARIs may be used in combination .
The aim of any treatment is to reduce the size of the prostate and it includes :
• Ablation with a needle
• Microwave thermotherapy – deliverable via a catheter to re move tissue
• Surgery – in cases where medication does not relieve symptoms .
