Feb. 2-8: Anye Turner, Western Washington (F, 6-7, Sr.,
Olympia, WA – Black Hills) scored 23 points and also had
23 rebounds and nine blocks in leading the Vikings to a
pair of 10-point road wins at Seattle Pacific (82-72) and
MSU Billings (75-65). Turner played a key role defensively
in WWU’s win at SPU. He had all five of the Vikings’
blocked shots as WWU held SPU to a 44.4 shooting
percentage. The Falcons came into the game ranked
fourth nationally in field goal percentage shooting 52.1
percent. Turner, who ranks sixth in GNAC history in career
blocked shots with 152, converted 58.8 percent of his
attempts, making 10 of 17. He also had four assists and a
steal without committing a turnover.
Ten GNAC contests – five men’s and five women’s – are
being televised on ROOT SPORTS this winter.
Brad Adam and Bob Akamian are splitting play-by-play
duties, while Dave Harshman is providing analysis for all 10
contests.
The next TV games will be played Wednesday when Saint
Martin’s hosts a doubleheader entertaining the Western
Washington women and the Western Oregon men. The
first game will tip off at 6 p.m.

GNAC Miscellany
NCAA West Regional: Eight teams advance to the NCAA
Division II West Regional tournament that will be held
March 13-16 at a site to be determined. The tournament
will feature the champions of the GNAC, CCAA and
PacWest Conferences. The GNAC will determine its men’s
champion with a six-team tournament March 5-7 at
Billings, Mont. The women’s tournament begins a day
earlier at Alterowitz Gym. The PacWest and CCAA also
hold six-team tournaments to determine their champions.

10 Games on ROOT SPORTS
Feb. 9-15 - Cory Hutsen, Seattle Pacific (C, 6-8, Sr.,
Sammamish, WA - Skyline) scored 43 points, including 23
in a 73-72 overtime win at Alaska Anchorage Saturday as
the Falcons kept alive their chances to earn a first-round
bye in next month’s conference playoffs with two
victories. Hutsen, who made 11 of 15 shots against the
Seawolves, scored a basket with 2:18 left in overtime to
give SPU its final lead at 70-68. In two wins in Alaska,
Hutson made 20 of 29 field goal attempts and also had
nine rebounds and a team-best three blocks helping SPU
limit the Seawolves and Alaska Nanooks to a combined
40.7 shooting percentage.
