As beautiful and ?eeting as snow-white cherry blossoms scattered on the chilly Carlton winds, Floating World presents an amazing night of ?rst experiences and never-to-be-repeated moments. For one night only, the casual bar and performance space of Bella Union will become a beautiful, Japanese-inspired wonderland of other-worldly experiences including music, liquid lighting and art installations. The event will see NZ’s Feist-inspired singer/songwriter Hula Hope celebrate her album launch with a ?rst-time-ever Australian performance, and local band t:dy t:wns launch their double single. All music will be set against the breathtaking work from artists Yutaka Matsuda and Akiko Yamasaki.

This musical community are proponents of the art of sound, providing a place for sharing, exploring and celebrating music, turning their back on demographic de?nitions. They are a not-for-pro?t striving for social change, where all proceeds from their services go towards running a music education program in a school in Pokhara, Nepal. Crossing cultures, fusing genres and embracing groups and individuals alike. This is a true generation of music.

Super sleuths will be rewarded… Follow the cryptic clues to ?nd the secret spots where Australia’s only vintage female barbershop quartet, Bobby and the Pins, will croon the classics, decked out in all their 1950s glory. Making their way along on Melbourne Share Bikes, these four hip dollies will be cruising down Swanston Street and stopping off for special acapella performances in a range of unexpected locations. Keep your Nancy Drew peepers peeled for performance squares marked with MMW tape, and scan the QR codes on site to ?nd out when the troupe will be making their appearance.
