“Since taking ownership of the boat, my wife Jenny and I have logged over 100 hours on the boat; hours spent fishing and pleasure cruising. These 100 hours are some of the best times my wife and I have spent together. ..... It has been a great pleasure thus far.” - John Taylor Willis

Building a custom boat is not, however, always smooth saiing. Custom builders often come and go. Do your homework and make sure the builder you select has a history and predicatable flow of business. Afterall, your hull warranty is only good if the company is still around to fix any problems. Also, be sure and get the details of your build worked out from the beginning. Delivery date, performance requirements and periodic payments schedules should all be worked out in advance. Also remember, good things come to those that wait. Often the custom building process is not quick. Managing anticipated delays will allow you to control your expectations. In the end, however, the delivered product will surly be worth it.

If you have never taken a ride on a cold molded boat, you simply cannot imagine what you are missing. It is nothing short of heaven. These boats just sound and feel different. It as if they glide over the water. If you are in the market for a flats skiff or bay boat, be sure and check out custom builds. You will get exactly what you want, not to mention, you'll be the envy of every angler at your local boat ramp.
