INCORPORATING YORKSHIRE HEALTHCARE BUSINESSES CELEBRATED AT THE MEDILINK WINTER BALL & AWARDS Glitz and glamour were the order of the evening at the inaugural Medilink Winter Ball held at Sheffield City Hall in December 2014, supported by the Yorkshire and Humber Academic Healthcare Science Network (AHSN). More than 150 guests from healthcare organisations from across the region were welcomed at a networking drinks reception where they were entertained by the Silver Strings quartet and Sheffield magician Afro Magic. The winners were: • Bradford-based V-Connect, won the Yorkshire and Humber AHSN Partnership with the NHS Award • Leeds-based Brandon Medical won the HGF Innovation Award Following dinner, guests were regaled with the stories of England Rugby Union legend Brian Moore. • Skipton-based Principle Healthcare won the UKTI Export Achievement Award The Medilink Awards, which celebrate the achievements of Healthcare Technology and related Life Sciences companies from across Yorkshire and Humber, then followed with six awards being handed out on the night, including a special Beacon Award. • Sheffield-based Swellaway Ltd won the Start-Up Award 04 • Selby-based GBUK Ltd won the Outstanding Achievement Award. The Medilink Beacon Award, which acknowledges the outstanding contribution of an individual to the healthcare sector, was awarded to Pamela Liversidge OBE, Managing Director of Quest Investments Ltd, which is a pro-active shareholder in engineering and medical device companies. Kevin Kiely, Chief Executive of Medilink Yorkshire & Humber, said: “Our region has for many years been recognised for its achievements in the Healthcare Technologies sector and the quality of this year’s award winners and nominees reinforces our credentials as a leader in healthcare innovation.”
